Subject: Please keep the legacy website content available for the community
Dear Battlefront Support Team,
I’m writing as a long-time Flames of War player—over 20 years now—to share a serious concern about the legacy website being taken offline.
That site was more than marketing; it was a living archive that inspired our games and served as a reliable reference. The historical background alone—hundreds of well-researched articles—was invaluable. On top of that, there were countless PDFs for special scenarios and events, plus documentation for out-of-production items that still helped players understand and use their collections. With the site gone, all of this has vanished, and it’s a real loss for hobbyists worldwide.
I understand the focus on V4, and that not everything on the old site reflected the current edition. However, there is still a large and active player base for V3. Our local group, for example, has remained fully on V3—and we still purchase new items regularly (monthly) from German retailers. Removing the legacy material makes it significantly harder for us to continue engaging with Flames of War the way we always have.
Could you please consider one of the following options?
- Restore the legacy site as a read-only archive.
- Publish a consolidated download archive (PDFs, articles, and reference pages).
- Provide an official mirror or repository (even if unsupported) so existing links and community resources remain usable.
- Share a timeline or plan for how historical/background content will be preserved and accessed going forward.
I want to stress that this is sent in a friendly spirit, but with clear frustration at losing such a valuable resource. Flames of War has been a big part of our hobby lives, and the legacy content helped make that possible. Preserving access—even in an “as-is, unsupported” form—would mean a lot to us.
Thank you for taking this seriously, and for everything you do for the community. I’m happy to provide specific examples of pages and PDFs our group relied on, if that would help.
Kind regards,
